De Montfort University have installed the Zero Carbon Solution technology in a test house at their Leicester Campus. The system is to be studied by a team of experts from the university’s Institute of Energy and Sustainable Development (IESD), a world leading energy research institute.
They will be collecting information for research and teaching, gathering data on the temperature and electrical output of the solar panels, the performance of the thermal system including the heat pump, and the heat flows within the Earth Energy Bank. These studies will continue for some years to analyse seasonal performance of the (more…)
The Solar House, the first Caplin Homes build to feature our Zero Carbon Solution technology, will once again be in the national news! Following last years considerable coverage in both print and televised features, the news cameras were back at the Solar House this week, filming an exciting report for Sky News.
The piece will be broadcast on Sky’s technology programme “Swipe”, airing at 7.40pm Friday (3/7/15). The feature will be repeated on Sky News at 2.30pm Saturday, and 8.30pm Sunday.
You can also watch the feature on the Sky News website HERE.
An innovative technology system that uses solar energy to heat buildings all year round is being installed for the first time in a commercial property.
The Zero Carbon Solution, which combines PV-T, heat pump and thermal energy storage, is being fitted into a 550m² office building in Faversham, Kent. Located at the Foundry business park, the property is a standard metal-framed construction and will boast no obvious visible signs of its carbon neutral credentials.
Built by developers Quinn Estates, the commercial unit will be home to renewable energy specialist Newform Energy, which is a partner in the Zero Carbon Solution (more…)
The 7th Energy Storage World Forum in London was attended by over 35 utilities/ TSOs/ DSOs, 7 regulators, and 70 speakers from 25 countries, covering a total of 50 topics including the first ever Residential Energy Storage Forum.
Michael Goddard, Director of the Zero Carbon Solution, and co-inventor of the revolutionary thermal storage technology, the Earth Energy Bank, was invited to speak at the conference. He presented “Examining The Energy Storage Needs Of The UK’s First Fully Solar Powered House”, as a feature of the new Residential Energy Storage
House builder Caplin Homes and renewable energy technology supplier Newform Energy have joined forces to launch a new organisation, offering a solar solution to zero carbon house building.
The Zero Carbon Solution will provide an affordable out-of-the-box energy system for domestic new-builds and low-rise commercial developments. Made up of three core technologies, hybrid PV-T solar collectors, a patented inter-seasonal energy store and a heat pump, the system can meet a building’s full heating and hot water requirements all year round, using only solar power.
Following the successful installation of the system into pilot project, the Solar House, the team has (more…)
